Malta is taking a bold step towards future-ready education by introducing artificial intelligence (AI) lessons to primary school students. As part of its new Digital Education Strategy 2025–2030, Year 6 students—typically aged 10–11—will begin exploring AI tools like image generators, text-to-speech platforms, and smarter online searching. The goal? To build digital literacy from a young age and prepare the next generation to thrive in a tech-driven world.

The initiative doesn’t stop there. Even younger students in Year 4 will learn how to identify misinformation online, a vital skill in today’s information-heavy environment. Malta’s approach shows a clear commitment to equipping children with not just technical know-how, but also the critical thinking needed to navigate the digital age responsibly.
